Group Survey Results

Group Survey Results
These are the results of the survey conducted by the group studying the brand Topshop

These results show the majority of people agree that Topshop can be overpriced and with the most votes for ‘Depends what you buy’ it shows inconsistency in Topshop’s pricing, this is an unreliable sales technique I think, as if someone goes in one time and purchases something reasonable priced then returns thinking it must all be priced similarly then goes in and finds coats and jackets for example costing upwards of £100 sometimes it could put off return customers.

These results show that even though the majority of people made a point that they were aware of fast fashion’s negative impact, there was still a good portion of people that did not know either what fast fashion is or that the clothes they are buying regularly and replacing regular were causing such a big impact in other peoples lives. There needs to be more publicity about this so people are aware of whats going on behind the scenes and in an attempt to encourage big brands to stop using these methods as standard.

These results confuse me as there is no evidence that Topshop is at all ethically conscious apart from the fact that they make an effort in stores to save water and recycle waste. As a brand as a whole they should not be considered as and ethically sustainable brand until they are known to use ethically sourced materials and labourers and show more of an effort into the environmental impact post manufacturing, be that in re- using materials from left over stock or donating these materials to some where that could use them or stocking even just one range in the shop in that an ethically conscious effort has been put into making sure the impact into the environment and the people surrounding the range is the least possible.

This carries on from my notes on the last question, I think bringing back this line which many people were unaware of could help them towards being a more ethically conscious brand. The fact that not many people knew about this range shows that recently Topshop doesn’t suit to promote sustainable fashion.

Again these results are similar to the ones I got from my instagram pole where in people agree that Topshop’ advertising is ineffective. This is clearly an area that needs improvement.

This shows a real mix of responses, I expected more people to say going in- store is their preferred method as Topshop’s online presence is not as big as other similar shops. I think with a similar number of people saying they shop online to those going in store it is even more important that Topshop improves their online presence as they’re website is much like their social media accounts, quite boring a basic, I think if these aren’t changed the number of people who continue to shop online will decline with people preferring to go to a website more visually pleasing and easier to use.

It is good to see that after learning a bit more about the impact of fast fashion that the majority of people would want to be more conscious of where they shop, this information should show brands that it is important to customers that a brand they choose to shop with is ethically correct.
