Topshop Whiterose- Leeds
Topshop Whiterose Leeds
I visited the Whiterose store to conduct some primary research at this point I was looking more at the ethical side of the brand so I went in specifically to look at the vintage concession and the Ivy Park section due to the negative attention it received.
The only sign of ethical clothing pushed onto one rail in a corner, behind the escalator only visible from the back of the shop, shows no thought or care goes towards sustainability. The clothes are not Topshops own brand they are from a local vintage shop that Topshop sell, I presume getting commission from sales. However no indication that the actual brand supports sustainability or ethical clothing.
The Ivy park section in the shop was quite big, I would say it took up about a quarter of the clothing section. I would thought this was too much promotion especially after the backlash over labour abuse that was ongoing during 2016 and 2017. I would have thought after such a pubic outpour of negative reactions to this news, that the shop would think to reduce the brand or even remove it as, its own actions are so counter productive to the message the IVY PARK brand is meant to give out.
